![]() On June 6, 2023, Onur Aksoy, 39, of Miami, FL, pleaded guilty in the District of New Jersey to running an extensive counterfeiting operation over many years to traffic in fraudulent and counterfeit Cisco networking equipment. Shockingly, only some defrauded organizations checked with the Cisco partner site to verify that Pro Networks was a legitimate reseller. Pro Network was selling counterfeit Cisco gear to school districts, hospitals, government agencies, and even the military for ten percent of the MSRP, generating over US$100 million in sales during its lifetime. The retail value of the counterfeit products was said to be US$1 billion. When is Cisco Gear Not Cisco Gear? When it is fraudulently manufactured in China to look like Cisco network gear and sold from a fraudulent Cisco reseller named Pro Network.
